When the Cleveland Browns 2020 schedule was released the first thing that caught people’s eye was the Thursday Night Week 2 game versus the Bengals and the Monday Night game versus the Ravens week 14. But besides those games, we at DTB wanted to breakdown each game and predict what the Browns record will be for the 2020 season. Let’s begin.

Week 1 @ Baltimore 1:00 pm

The last time the Browns went into Baltimore they put on a dominating fashion winning 40-25 which will go down as one of the most memorable games from 2019. Unfortunately, going into game 1 against the reigning AFC North Champions with a new coaching staff and system might be a little more than the Browns can handle. But, they will be in this game to the end. It’ll end in a close battle but I think the Browns start off the season with a loss to begin 2020.

Prediction: Ravens 34-31

Week 2 vs. Cincinnati 8:20 pm (TNF)

It’ll be a quick turn around for the Browns because four days after the Baltimore game as the Browns will play the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football in Cleveland. Last season the Browns did split the season series with the Bengals when they lost at home in the last game of the season 33-23. Thankfully last season is behind the Browns as they look to rebound from the opening season game loss to the Ravens. Joe Burrow is a rookie in his second game with a team that will be struggling to come out of the gate. Plus the defense still has some questions marks around it for Cincinnati. Baker Mayfield and the offense look to take on the spotlight in front of the Dawg Pound (hopefully) and go on to beat the Bengals at home on Primetime TV.

Prediction: Browns 28-10

Week 3 vs Washington 1:00 pm

Week 3 sees the Nations Capital team as the Washington Redskins come to Cleveland with Chase Young and Dwayne Haskins coming back to Ohio. The Redskins did get some good players in the draft but overall the team looks destined to finish in the bottom 5 of the league. The Browns, after beating the Bengals, look to ride that wave and take the second home game of the season as a win with the offense clicking on the heels of Nick Chubb.

Prediction: Browns 42-14

Week 4 @ Dallas 1:00 pm

The Browns will travel to Jerry World as the Browns will take on “America’s Team” in the Dallas Cowboys. It’ll be a homecoming for Baker since most of his family is in Texas so it’ll be electric for QB1 in his home state. The Cowboys did load up in the off-season with getting Ceedee Lamb in the draft and bringing in Andy Dalton as the backup QB behind Dak Prescott. The Browns do not want to forget Zeke Elliott in the backfield as he is an electric runner for the Cowboys. Unfortunately, this game will come down to a very close heartbreaker as the Browns will lose in the Big D to Jerry Jones and the Cowboys.

Prediction: Cowboys 20-17

Week 5 vs Indianapolis 4:25 pm

Week 5 sees the Colts come to town with a newly acquired quarterback in Phillip Rivers. Rivers has had the Browns number every time he faces the team when he was in San Diego/Los Angeles with the Chargers. Although, with a new team in the Colts, who on paper look like a decent team, but will that translate on the field? The Colts will probably rely too heavily on Rivers and that could lead him into issues with the Browns revamped secondary and the rush defense. The Browns will be on the rebound from the Dallas loss and get a revenge win against Rivers back at home at First Energy Stadium.

Prediction: Browns 38-21

Week 6 @ Pittsburgh 1:00 pm

If you ask any Browns fan, week 6 at Pittsburgh is circled on their schedule. This game will have lots of hype since it’ll be the first game between the two since the brawl in Cleveland last season. The Steelers will be a completely different team compared to last season with Ben Roethlisberger being back along with wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster. It’ll be a slobber knocker of a game between the two sides but the Browns will lose another close game, which seems to be the team so far in the Browns losses in 2020.

Prediction: Steelers 20-17

Week 7 @ Cincinnati 1:00pm

It’s not common to face a divisional opponent twice within eight weeks so early in the season but the Browns will face off against the Bengals again in week 7 in Cincinnati. The Browns will look to bounce back from the Pittsburgh loss and avenge the split last season to the Bengals. The Bengals at this point will still be sticking with Burrow and the Browns will take the sweep of Cincinnati to claim bragging rights in the Battle of Ohio.

Prediction: Browns 24-9

Week 8 vs Las Vegas 1:00 pm

The Browns once again play another 1 pm game, which seems to be a lot of those time slots when people take a glance at the schedule. The Browns look to once again revenge a game back from 2018 when the team lost to the Raiders in overtime back in Oakland. If you ask anyone the Browns should have won that game but nonetheless, the Browns look to head into the bye week with a win. The Raiders, now in Las Vegas, did manage to get somewhat better in free agency and in the draft with getting three wide receivers in the first couple of rounds. However, Derek Carr has been inconsistent the last couple of seasons and that will be the edge the Browns will have going into this game after beating Cincinnati the previous week for the season split. The Browns will go into the week 9 bye with a two-game winning streak after taking out John Gruden and the Raiders at home.

Prediction: Browns 42-28

Week 10 vs Houston 1:00pm

The Browns come off the bye week still at home and on a two-game winning streak. The Texans are still considered a team not to be taken lightly; but with the talent that’s left on the team, it’s not the same Texans the Browns faced back in 2018 or even the Texans team of last season. Deshaun Watson will have his hands full with a dwindled offense going up against a defense that’s red hot and look to take home another win at home in front of the Dawg Pound. Expect Chubb to slice up the defense on the ground game and look for Baker to be dropping dimes all over the field to the offense. The Browns come back from the bye with a win and a three-game win streak.

Prediction: Browns 24-14

Week 11 vs Philadelphia 1:00pm

The Browns going into week 11 look to end a pretty solid homestand with a win over the Eagles. Unfortunately, it’s still the Eagles, despite getting a QB in the draft by way of Jalen Hurts. The Eagles did win the NFC East last year and still have a solid core of players in Carson Wentz, Zach Ertz, and others. It’ll be a close game but the Browns will have their three-game win streak snapped by the Eagles at home.

Prediction: Eagles 21-17

Week 12 @ Jacksonville 1:00pm

Week 12 sees the Browns back in the road which would feel like forever as they head down to Jacksonville to face the Jaguars. The Jaguars at this point are what people consider to be at the bottom of the league. The offense is a skeleton of itself with no real threats on the ground or air. The defense has a lot of question marks as well as they are a team like Washington destined to finish in the bottom five, maybe the bottom two. But, the Browns will not want to take them lightly and fall into a trap game against the Jaguars. This is a game the Browns should easily take but they shouldn’t look past them to the next game. If the Browns stay focused they will snag the win in Jacksonville to get back on the winning side of things.

Prediction: Browns 35-9

Week 13 @ Tennessee 1:00pm

As a Browns fan, you know Baker and company have this matchup with the Titans marked on their schedule after what happened in week 1 last year. The Browns came in thinking they’ll smoke everyone and got punched in the mouth by the Titans in a blowout to start off 2019. The Titans will have Ryan Tannehill at quarterback instead of Marcus Mariotta and have Derick Henry in the backfield as well. It’ll be a close game as it’ll be a show of the run game between Henry and Nick Chubb. Both defenses will look to shut down the offenses in a highly contested game. It’ll be a close one but unfortunately, the Browns won’t get this revenge win they hope to get in this one.

Prediction: Titans 24-21

Week 14 vs Baltimore 8:15 pm (MNF)

The Browns head into their last primetime game of the season as they face off against the Ravens for the last time in 2020 in Cleveland. The first matchup was a close one but at this point in the season, the Browns can feel a playoff push coming on and will want to win on national television against the Ravens. Learning from the first game the Browns will be ready for whatever Lamar Jackson and the offense will throw at them. Expect the passing game to be strong for the Browns as they will look to split the series against the Ravens, just like the previous couple of seasons.

Prediction: Browns 38-35

Week 15 @ NY Giants 1:00pm

In what will be the first of back-to-back games at MetLife Stadium, the Browns will be facing Odell Beckham Jr’s former team in the NY Giants. This game will be huge for Beckham Jr as he will be looking to put on a show for the fans at this game to prove that he wasn’t the issue in New York. At this point in the season, the Giants will most likely be out of the playoff picture and will have nothing to play for other than for pride and to beat Beckham Jr in his first game back. Unfortunately for the Giants, they will not pick up the win as the Browns will go for their second win in-a-row and give Beckham Jr that win against his former team.

Prediction: Browns 42-17

Week 16 @ NY Jets TBD

Week 16 will be the last of two back-to-back games for the Browns at MetLife against the Jets. The last two seasons the Browns have beaten the Jets, one of which was Baker Mayfield’s first game back in 2018 on Thursday Night Football. Sam Darnold and the Jets look to get the monkey off their back against the Browns as they will look to use the run game to get the offense going. The Browns defense will be on their game, as usual, they will lead the Browns to their third straight win going into the last week of the regular season.

Prediction: Browns 27-17

Week 17 vs Pittsburgh 1:00 pm

Going into the final game of the season the Browns at this point are riding a three-game win streak and are on a 7-2 run since Week 7 against the Bengals. The team is firing on all cylinders despite the two losses to Philadelphia and Tennessee. Baker and company want to finish off the regular season on a high note at home against the Steelers. The stadium will be rocking that day knowing that playoffs are on the line for the Browns since it’ll be their first time in the playoffs since 2002 and to do it against Pittsburgh will be the icing on top. Both teams will come out strong on the arms of Roethlisberger and Mayfield but it’ll be the ground game for the Browns that will lead the way in the end. The Browns defense will hang tough to help the Browns split the season series against the Steelers and punch a ticket for the Browns to go into the playoffs for the first time since 2002.

Prediction: Browns 35-21

The Cleveland Browns will finish the 2020 regular season with an 11-5 record and will go to the playoffs for the first time since 2002. The offense, with all of its weapons, will show what it should have been like in 2019 with finishing 9th the league as a unit. The defense will finish 5th in the league. The Browns will make it in as a wildcard as unfortunately, the Ravens will once again take the AFC North. A jump from 6-10 to 11-5 is very possible for a Browns team with a system that is proven to work under Kevin Stefanski, as he will get the talent that should have done well last year to come together to lead the Browns to the playoffs. What record do you think the Browns will finish within the 2020 season?
