As the world stands still and many sports fanatics yearn for live action, we will get a glimpse of what the world was like pre-COVID-19 this Sunday on NBC.
The skins match will pit World No. 1 Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson up against fan favorite Rickie Fowler and Matthew Wolff at Seminole Golf Club in Florida.
Breaking Down the Match-up
On paper, this match is one sided, but does anyone really care? If Rory and Dustin destroy Fowler and Wolff, I don’t think anyone will complain. Speaking for myself, I just want to see some live golf with four of the best players in the world. What’s at stake? Well, McIlroy and Johnson will be playing for the American Nurses Foundation, while Fowler and Wolff play for the CDC Foundation, with $3 million on the line.
I know this is minor compared to the big match in 2 weeks between Tiger and Phil, but think of this as an appetizer to get sports back rolling in America. This symbolizes hope and gives reason to believe things can get back to normal. Even if you aren’t the biggest golf fan, tune in and get a taste of what life was like just 3 months ago. I know I will.
Live coverage will be broadcast on NBC, The Golf Channel and NBC Sports Network from 2 pm to 6 pm.
